If you are disabled or have a physical or mental health
condition, it can be difficult to find suitable and fulfilling employment.
First Class Support provides employment support services to individuals with
physical disabilities, mental health conditions and learning difficulties. We
can also give advice and guidance on welfare benefits that might be available
to people with disabilities.
Our aim is to ensure the provision of support to adults
aged 18 and over with an enduring/long physical, psychological or learning
difficulty to help enhance their prospects of independence via sustainable
employment. The support received will promote a good quality of life and
self-sufficiency through building skills for independence, with a particular
focus on employability and attaining readiness to access and maintain paid
employment.
Assisting individuals to prepare for, obtain and remain in
employment is a vital part of the support we
offer. This particular support will also take a holistic and
tailored approach to maximising employability. Consequently, service users will
be encouraged to undertake training, conduct volunteering and work experience duties,
and enrol onto vocational education programmes, which will facilitate a
successful journey towards employment.
We are currently accepting referrals from local authorities
and directly from clients who are in receipt of eligible funding.
Employees
If you are disabled or have a physical or mental health condition that makes it difficult for you to do your job, you should discuss this with your employer, who must make certain changes, or reasonable adjustments, to ensure you are not substantially disadvantaged when doing your job. Reasonable adjustments may include changing your working hours or providing equipment to help you do your job. If the help you need at work is not covered by your employer by making reasonable adjustments, you may be able to get help from Access to Work (ATW).
Through ATW we can provide support based on your needs, which may include practical support in the workplace, strategy coaching and mental health support. This support can also be conducted within your home and remotely depending on your circumstances.
You can apply for ATW online. You will need to provide details of your employment and disclose the nature of your disability/diagnoses. Once you have applied, an ATW adviser will contact you to discuss what help you could get. They will not contact your employer until they have agreed this with you first.
If you would like First Class Support to support you, this will need to be discussed with your ATW advisor. First Class Support has been providing workplace support since 2015 and is highly recognised for efficient, effective, and professional employment support services. Therefore, your ATW advisor will be familiar with our services and should facilitate your request. If you have already applied to ATW and been awarded ATW support from FCS, you can register for our services below.

I was given two types of support from First Class as part of my Disabled Student Allowance. The support people are incredibly professional, and the staff at First Class who organised the support are really lovely, they assist me when I have any concerns or issues with the support I am receiving. They continue to contact me to make sure everything is running smoothly and check that I am okay with the support I am getting.
